1:00-5:00 p.m.

Ladysmith High School Auditorium

1700 Edgewood Avenue East, Ladysmith, WI 54848

People of all ages and experience levels are welcome to audition. No prior music or stage experience is necessary. Summer music and drama workshops, directed by the project’s artistic staff, will be provided free of charge to help cast members develop their skills and prepare for the premiere performances in Ladysmith on July 16th and 18th.

Male and female chorus roles (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) are available for children ages 6 to 12 and adults age 13 to 100. There are several openings for supporting roles and dancers as well. All dancers will be selected from the chorus. Although not mandatory, participants in the Ladysmith production are greatly encouraged to perform in the Minneapolis, Minnesota premiere of “The Ladysmith Story” during July 23-25, 2010.

Those interested in auditioning should prepare a song of their choice in English, two to four minutes in length, preferably with piano accompaniment. A hymn, folk song, musical theatre piece, patriotic song, or opera aria will suffice. A pianist will be available at the audition for any individuals needing accompaniment. Arrive at 1:00 p.m. to receive an audition time-slot. Please bring:

1. One clear copy of your music for the pianist.

2. Your personal calendar to check availability for posted rehearsal times and performances.

3. One photo of you that we may keep. A snapshot or Polaroid will be sufficient.

4. A change of comfortable clothes and shoes in which you can move.

5. A pencil or pen.

Dancers and selected singers should be prepared to attend a 4:15 p.m. called back after the initial auditions. Children auditioning for the production must have a legal guardian in attendance at the audition.
